Gay Warriors

Gay Warriors!

There's no doubt by now you've heard the announcement made by NBA Player Jason Collins that he's a gay man and the first to come out. How many professional athletes do you think there really are? Should Jason continue to play in the NBA he would be the first active Gay Warrior. It has set off a media story that has stimulated a great deal of dialog among his colleagues, former players and fans. We have asked our friends following us on our social networks what they think about the announcement and should we care about the personal lives of athletes we admire and the feedback has been mixed.
First Actively Gay NBA Player

I have represented a former NBA Player who wrote a book announcing his gay lifestyle and I remember wondering how many people besides myself knew his secret. His final years were played in a small NBA Market so it was easy for him to stay under the radar but when his Head Coach shoved him into his dog house I always thought he knew. An old school type guy I believe it was an uncomfortable situation for him. Does it matter to sports fans if there were many other gay warriors that decide to go public with the sexuality?
I'm Gay and I'm Happy!!!

Gay Warriors, Who Cares?

I'm a die-hard sports fan! I love the competition the strategic nature of the games and finally the athletic abilities of individual players. I'm not sure I give damn whether or not a player is a gay warrior or disrespectful playboy, what does it matter? If he is helping my favorite team win I love him or her... That's just my humble opinion I do realize there are several people that have taken a moral stand about this, I just don't know that merging our morality with wanting to win games is a good mix...
